Bank Syariah Indonesia

Aceh, Indonesia

Nestled in Aceh, the capital city of North Sumatra, specifically in a strategic city center with a convenient pedestrian. The headquarter of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Aceh is surrounded by various public facilities such as mosque, retail and public transportation within 700 m radius. The client’s vision seeks to embrace unique local cultural signatures, pioneering the integration of open spaces and sustainable green elements.

The BSI Building features a structure with widened facades on the north and south sides. These widened facades are strategically positioned to avoid direct exposure to excessive sunlight from the east and west.

The facades facing the east and west (image 1 and 2) dominate the functional areas of the BSI Tower. These office areas require natural light to achieve visual comfort for workers and support high productivity.
Meanwhile, the facades on the east and west sides, specifically on the mid to lower level (image 3 and 4) serve as public areas. The eastern side functions as a Refreshment & Collaboration Area, while a mosque located in the western side of the building.

In these public areas, natural sunlight is essential to accommodate the activities of many visitors and to promote energy efficiency.

BSI Facade Pattern: A Symbol of Gratitude and Unity with Local Context.

Bungong Awang-Awang and Meurante pattern (First Floor Facade) – The pattern is inspired by local motifs, Bungong Meurante and Awang-Awang, which represent the unity of Aceh’s community and symbolize the greatness and power of Allah SWT. It serves as a reminder for us, as His servants, to reflect on His majesty and express our gratitude.

(Second Floor Pattern Facade) – The double skin facade incorporates the star pattern from the BSI logo in transparent areas, enhancing visibility for users. This ceiling, visible from the exterior, serves as a key accent and focal point of the building design.
