Epiwalk Lifestyle
Jakarta, Indonesia
The redesign of Epiwalk presents a deliberate effort to enhance its visibility and welcoming façade, addressing the need for more vibrant activities within its premises. The overarching design concept centers around the themes of transition and transformation, achieved through biophilic rejuvenation. This approach not only revitalizes the space aesthetically but also promotes a harmonious coexistence between nature and architecture.
Tampah-Inspired Canopy: A Bridge Between Social Spaces and Nature
The canopy design draws inspiration from the “tampah,” symbolizing the act of collecting. Tampah is a flat tray and rounded, commonly used in Indonesia, made from woven bamboo. In this context, the canopy serves as a representation of a public space with distinct social characteristics relevant to its time. This innovative design not only fosters engagement but also bridges the gap between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Horizontal and vertical greenery intertwine effortlessly, forming a unified relationship throughout the levels and allowing nature to become a key component of the environment. Furthermore, the design emphasizes direct contact with the adjacent river, encouraging public interaction and appreciation of the waterfront.
