Jakarta is at a pivotal moment in its urban development, facing challenges in mobility, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability due to rapid urbanization. Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) offers a strategic approach to creating more connected, livable, and inclusive urban spaces.
In a recent public lecture at Pradita University, Adri R. Hanafi, Director of Anggara Architeam, explored how TOD can reshape Jakarta’s urban landscape. He outlined key architectural strategies, particularly in mixed-use developments, such as optimizing building form through massing strategies, activating ground floors with retail and public amenities to enhance walkability, and fostering social interaction through placemaking in public spaces. Some case studies from Anggara Architeam’s projects, including Indonesia Satu and the design concept of ITC Fatmawati Apartment, illustrating how these principles are applied in real-world developments
We sincerely thank Pradita University for hosting PIJAR (Praktisi Mengajar) and facilitating an insightful discussion. The students’ enthusiasm and engagement made this session a valuable exchange of ideas on architecture and Jakarta’s future urban development.
